starvale goldens...
Real world training for you and your dog. We specialize in positive reinforcement for happier working dogs. A dog shows joy in doing something he really loves. The same joy that a dog brings to life, he can bring to training. All we have to do is figure out what the dogs want from us and how much it means to them. We must make the effort to understand what the dog brings to the relationship and make him a vital member of the team. We want our relationship with our dogs to reflect confidence, harmony and teamwork. Positive training creates trust and confirms your role as a fair pack leader. We want your dog to be considered an important member of your household and to be able to be included in family activities. A well trained dog is a pleasure to live with and is welcome in many places!
About Peg Cobb and Hand-in-Paw Kennels...
Hand-in-Paw was formally founded in July, 1998 after I closed Village Pet Center in Middlebury, VT. I did informal boarding at home and taught obedience classes in the Municipal Building for several years prior to then. Closing the pet shop allowed me to devote full time to my passion - my dogs and teaching others to turn good dogs into GREAT dogs!
I have been showing and breeding Golden Retrievers under the "Starvale" prefix since 1986 and have put numerous titles on dogs in conformation, obedience, agility and freestyle. I recently have started tracking again after taking a few years off due to lack of time. I am a member of GRCA (The Golden Retriever Club of America), BOTC (Burlington Obedience Training Club), TCV (Tracking Club of Vermont), CPE (Canine Performance Events), WCFO (World Canine Freestyle Organization) and MDSA (Musical Dog Sports Association). |
The Facility...
Hand-in-Paw Training and Boarding Kennel offers you and your dog Addison County's only complete training facility with both indoor and outdoor obedience and agility rings. We also carry several brands of all natural dog food and treats as well as a large selection of toys and supplies. We recently added a line of gift items for both you and your pet. Our spacious 50' x 90'' training building is fully matted, heated in cold weather and air conditioned for your training comfort. One wall is mirrored to help with observation of the dog's (and handler's!) movements. We have a 100' x 100' outdoor agility ring with all equipment. The ring is lighted for evening training even well into the fall.
Directions: We are easy to find - from Middlebury, follow Rt. 30 to Rt. 74. Turn right and go 2 1/2 miles. Training school is on the left. From Rt. 22A, take Rt. 74E and go 5 miles to site on right.
